The launch of the ‘Cuban Report – UN General Assembly Resolution 74/7’ translated from Spanish to Sinhala by the Peace and Solidarity Organization – Sri Lanka (PASOS), the Sri Lankan branch of the World Peace Council, was held on August 19 at the Cuban Embassy.

The Cuban people are suffering greatly due to the economic sanctions imposed by the United States of America for about 60 years. This situation has directly affected Cuba’s various fields of industry, agriculture, tourism, trade, etc., and it is fatally hindering the development of the general life of the Cuban people. The whole world has accepted that the sanctions imposed by the United States are unjust, and only the United States and Israel stand for the sanctions at this time.

The Sinhala translation of this proposal, written in Spanish, was presented to the Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Comrade Andreas Gonzalez, by Comrade Bimal Ratnayake, President of the Peace and Cooperation Organization. This work was translated by Comrade Nuwan Kumarasinghe, Executive Member of Peace and Cooperation Organization.

Apart from this, representing Peace and Cooperation Organization, Comrades Janaka Adhikari, Sunil Gamage, former Vice-President of the World Democratic Youth Federation, Comrade Madhu Kalpana, National Organizer of Socialist Students Union, Comrade Rangana Devapriya, Secretary of International Affairs of Socialist Students Union, Comrade Jeewana Harishchandra, International Affairs Secretary of Socialist Youth UnionComrade Anjana Amarasinghe, and a group of others participated.

ස්පාඤ්ඤ බසින් සිංහලට පරිවර්තනය කළ ‘කියුබානු වාර්තාව – එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ මහා මණ්ඩලයේ 74/7 දරන යෝජනාව’ කෘතියක් ලෙසින් එළිදැක්වීම.

වසර 60ක පමණ කාලයක සිට ඇමරිකා එක්සත් ජනපදය විසින් අඛණ්ඩව පනවා තිබෙන ආර්ථික සම්බාධක නිසා කියුබානු ජනතාව අතිශය පීඩාවට පත්ව සිටියි. මෙම තත්වය කියුබාවේ කාර්මික, කෘෂිකාර්මික, සංචාරක, වෙළෙඳ ආදී විවිධ ක්ෂේත්‍ර සඳහා සෘජුවම බලපා ඇති අතර එය කියුබානු ජනතාවගේ සාමාන්‍ය ජනජීවිතය වර්ධනය කරගැනීමට මාරාන්තික ලෙස බාධා කරමින් තිබෙයි. එක්සත් ජනපදය පැනවූ මෙම සම්බාධක අසාධාරණ බව මුළු ලෝකයම පිළිගෙන ඇති මේ අවස්ථාවේ සම්බාධක වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටින්නේ එක්සත් ජනපදය සහ ඊශ්‍රායලය පමණි.

ස්පාඤ්ඤ බසින් ලියවුණු මෙම යෝජනාවේ සිංහල පරිවර්තනය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කියුබානු තානාපති ඇන්ඩ්‍රියාස් ගොන්සාලේස් (Andreas Gonzalez) සහෝදරයා වෙත පිරිනැමීම සාමය සහ සහයෝගීතා සංවිධානයේ සභාපති බිමල් රත්නායක සහෝදරයා විසින් සිදුකරන ලදී. මෙම කෘතිය පරිවර්තනය කරන ලද්දේ සාමය සහ සහයෝගිතා සංවිධානයේ විධායක සභික නුවන් කුමාරසිංහ සහෝදරයා විසිනි.

ඊට අමතරව මෙම අවස්ථාව සඳහා සාමය හා සහයෝගිතා සංවිධානය නියෝජනය කරමින් ජානක අධිකාරි, සුනිල් ගමගේ යන සහෝදරවරුද, ලෝක ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී තරුණ සම්මේලනයේ හිටපු උපසභාපති මධූ කල්පනා සහෝදරිය, සමාජවාදී ශිෂ්‍ය සංගමයේ ජාතික සංවිධායක රංගන දේවප්‍රිය සහෝදරයා, සමාජවාදී ශිෂ්‍ය සංගමයේ ජාත්‍යන්තර කාටයුතු ලේකම් ජීවන හරිස්චන්ද්‍ර සහෝදරයා, සමාජවාදී තරුණ සංගමයේ ජාත්‍යන්තර කටයුතු ලේකම් අංජන අමරසිංහ සහෝදරයා ඇතුළු පිරිසක් සහභාගී විය.
